He was probably at Broughton Hospital in Morganton which is still open. The hospital is located on Sterling Street and the cemetary is behind the hospital. The library there has old records. A list of the folks buried there can be accessed -- Broughton has a website. I think it is broughtonhospital.org I believe information on the buried folks can be found at that site or that site may have links. Broughton is indeed a psychiatric hospital that has been around since the late 1800s -- beautiful campus. I worked there until relocating. I also had an uncle that was a patient there for 15 years in the 50s -- my family too kept quite about what the problem was. Good luck in your search!
