The 72nd annual reunion for family, friends, and descendants of Dorcas Parker Franklin and Samuel Joseph Franklin Sr. will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 14 at the Linville Falls Community Church in the Linville Falls Community (near the juncture of Burke, Avery, and McDowell counties). The church is located about ΒΌ mile out Hwy 183 after its intersection with Hwy 221. Coffee and doughnuts will be served from 9:00 until 10:00 with the program and activities beginning at 10:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Entertainment and "dinner on the grounds" will follow. Families are requested to bring a covered dish. After lunch, a special program and opportunity for discussion will be provided for those interested in Franklin history and genealogy. If you have old family pictures, memorabilia, family history information, or family heirlooms, you are encouraged to bring them. Samuel was born in the Lower Creek area of Burke County about 1780 to Revolutionary War Patriot John Franklin Sr. and Phoebe Parker Franklin. Samuel and Dorcas resided in the Linville Falls area for the last half of their lives. Their children were: Levi Chandler, Isaiah C., Isaac, Samuel Joseph Jr., Sarah "Sally," John S., and David S.
