County Census Records FYI..Broughton Hospital...Old names for the hospital were: 1. Western NC Insane Asylum 2. State Hospital for the Insane. Persons who were patients/residents are listed in the census of 1900, 1910, 1930 under "State Hospital." Broughton Hospital Cemetery.... It should be noted that in order to photograph graves in this cemetery, one must first get permission since cameras are not allowed on the property. To get permission contact the Chaplain, Rev. Phillip King. At one time the graves were marked only with numbers. Today Rev. King has been marking the grave sites with names. This is done by donations to the cemetery project..
