Many of the names you listed as the children of Edward Jackson are prominent in Chaffin families. I know also that there were other marriages between these Burke County Chaffins and Jacksons- Joseph Chaffin b. 1799 (son of Amos b.1768) married Susannah Chaffin 10 Mar 1822 in Burke Co.... his sister Margaret b,1800,married Amos Jackson 7 Oct 1824 in Habersham Co., GA. and Elijah Chaffin born 1798 in Burke Co., m. Anna Jackson 18 Nov 1820 in Rutherford, NC. I have alot of the chaffin data however i need to locate it in my books you could do a web search on joseph chaffin and do census records, the information is out there. I have checked the census data of James and Mary Alexander's children for mother's place of birth and while that is not reliable, in all cases except for one child in 1900 who listed MD, the mother's place of birth was VA. I don't know where I picked up the information that Mary Payne was born in Rowan County NC, but now I doubt that is accurate.
