John Wendell Davis was my husband's father. He died when my husband was almost 7, so of course I never met him. I'm not exactly sure how these people fit into his family tree and am trying to sort it all out. I know that Irene and Eloise were Wendell's sisters. There is one other sister who I'm pretty sure is still living. If there is any other information you can give me, I would really appreciate it.

Ransom had several brothers who served with the Confederacy, namely, John, Josiah, Robert and David. Ransom was the son of Rev. David Rich and Rhoda Hains (Haynes). He married Sarah A. Epley, daughter of Andrew Epley. They had children John W., Rachel Elizabeth, Ransom Logan, Jr., Frances and Andrew. I would like to hear from any descendants of Ransom Logan Rich who might help me fill in some holes in my genealogical records and perhaps verify his service with the Union during the Civil War.

Surnames: English, Wakefield Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5UB.2ACI/2681 Message Board Post: I need help with the descendants of William Wakefield English of Burke County, North Carolina. I have some information but it is limited and not sufficient to figure everyone out. His obituary says that he was married twice. I know only of a marriage to Harriette Huskins. His obituary also identifies 2 of the surviving children as a Mrs. Eugene Taylor and a Mrs. Elbert Banner. I believe that his daughter identified in his obituary as Miss Mouser English was Laura English who married, per her obituary, Stephen Phillip Perrou. Lora’s obituary also indicates that her sister Augusta married a Mr. Gentry and that the sister married to Elbert Banner had the first name of Elizabeth. Can anyone help with the identification and dates for the other wife of William and with the names, dates, and spouses of all of the children and which of William’s wives was their mother?

Anyone know anything about this. All other data shows James was born 1759, but a "5" would be very easy to misread as a "6" (or vice-versa).

    2. Ann Propst
    3. Hi, Need help in sorting out Miles Alfred Yount, two Eliza Younts and John W. Propst. Any additions/corrections will be appreciated. I have 1st Lt. Miles Alfred Yount (1833-1866 Catawba Co., NC & buried in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery). This John had a wife Eliza unknown and a daughter, Cora B. Yount b. 1865 who m. Lewis Jerome Hewitt in 1884 in Catawba Co., NC. I am assuming that Miles died intestate as there is not a Miles Yount listed in "NC Wills: A Testator Index, 1665-1900" by Thornton W. Mitchell. Then I have Eliza Yount (Jul 1846-aft 1900) who m. on 21 Sep 1887 in Catawba Co., NC John W. Propst (May 1830-after 1900). So far I don't know the parents of this John W. Propst or this Eliza Yount. My question is it possible that Eliza unknown, the widow of Miles Alfred Yount and the Eliza Yount, wife of John W. Propst are one and same person? I have a Will Propst and wife, Susan Detter with a son, Sidney G. Propst b. 1881 who m. Ellen Shook in 1900 in Catawba Co., NC. Is this John W.? Also, William Propst (parents unknown) who m. Susan C. Propst, (d/o Jacob Propst and Sarah "Sallie" Dietz Propst), who died 21 Jun 1887 Lincoln Co., NC Ann Propst, Brevard, NC

    3. Hello Burke List, Thanks for all the offers of help on the Winters family. The only connection I have to the Winters family, that I know of, was a couple of elementary school teachers at Oak Hill. Hope this clears misunderstanding. I am not researching the Winters family. Just replying to a query by [email protected] about a possible Branch/Winters connection. I'm researching POWELL, BRANCH, MICHAELS, SANDERS and connected lines as they come up. I've found connections to WILLIAMS, CONNER, BRITON, ALLMAN, HISE/HICE and others, most all from Burke Co., NC, Sanders and Conner have a SC connection. Regards, Mary Powell Spewachek
