I have used this book extensively for my Kincaid family tree research (John was my 4th great grandfather). The book has some information on Rev. W.W. Todd and Sophia Kincaid. This is contained in a note at the end of the section on the descendants of Milton Wilburn Kincaid. I will repeat the information below (as close as possible to what is in the book): QUOTE NOTE: some information on Sophia Rebecca Todd Kincaid, second wife of Milton Wilburn Kincaid. Sophia’s maiden name was Moore. At the time of her marriage to Milton, Sophia was the widow of Rev. W.W. Todd b. June 26, 1819 d. Jan.15, 1854. Rev. Todd was a Methodist Minister, he is buried in Fairfield Cemetery. Sophia was 45 years old when Milton Kincaid died, she did not remarry. Sophia had 4 children by Rev. W.W. Todd: (1) William A. Todd b. May 3, 1833 d. July 25, 1862, he did not marry, unable to get further information. (2) James L. Todd, went to McKinney, Texas to live. (3) Charles S. Todd married Rebecca Elizabeth Kincaid, daughter of Col. John Kincaid. (4) Mary Ann Todd married Lambert Augustus Bristol. END QUOTE >From the above information, you can see that James had a Kincaid sister-in-law, married to his brother Charles. They were married in 1868. Additionally, I have his full name as James Leroy Todd. I have extensive notations on my sources but unfortunately not for where I got the “Leroy”. >From other information I have, James had Kincaid half-siblings born to Sophia and Milton Wilburn Kincaid. These were (1) Finley Milton Kincaid, Sr., (2) Sarah Catherine Kincaid, (3) Luticia Rebecca Kincaid, and (4) Alonzo A. Kincaid.

I found something on the 1790 Burke Co, NC census that may be very important to me. I am looking for an Ellenor Lee who was born 16 Nov 1769 in NC and died 20 May 1801 in Perry Co, MS. She married James Simmons Sr. In the 1790 Burke Co, NC census there is an "Elonor Lee" listed as head of household with a total of 5 free white females (this includes Elonor). The 1800 Burke Co, NC census shows that "Elonor Lee" is now missing which would make sense because my Ellenor would be married by then. However, there is a Sally Lee listed as head of household in 1800 (sister maybe). In this household there is only one female age 16-26 which would have made Sally 6-16 in the 1790 census would also fit that she was living with her older sister (Ellenor) if their parents were dead. Does anyone have any information about the LEE family of Burke Co, NC?? Who were "Elonor Lee's" parents and did they indeed die prior to the 1790 census? Did this "Elonor Lee" marry a Simmons and move away? Michele Simmons Lewis

Dear friends, Since having the time to do what I love best (researching and writing web pages) I am currently in the process of re-doing the Catawba County NCGenWeb page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawb/index.htm. This includes 2,400+ pages so y'all know what I'll be doing for a while. Bells and whistles (if any) will come after the basic page updates are completed. The tabulations column began to look like the "English Book of Common Prayer" so an easier way to navigate was needed. Bear with me but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) people would rather drill down rather than search a long list. If this page loads too slowly or the colors aren't quite right, please let me know. I have only my screen to go by. When Catawba is 'fixed' I'll get on Burke County. --Derick

Is there a will index for this county? I am looking for the will of Isaac Thompson b abt 1754. He received a Rev War pension, and was a landowner on Hunting Creek in Burke Co NC. He died sometime after 1833 when he applied for his pension. He was 79 at the time. Isaac Thompson is listed in the Burke Co NC census 1800, 1810, 1820 and 1830.
