    2. It just occurred to me that Lavisa Noblett who married John Davis in 1844 may be the widow of Moses Abraham Noblett who die prior to 1840, in then Burke Co., NC. She was Lavisa "Lavicy" Vaughn. She married Moses Abrahm Noblett, bond 6 May 1822 Burke Co., NC with bondsman Thomas Noblett. She is widowed by the 1840 census where she appears as head of household, with 1 son and two daughters. The two daughters listed as Davis may actually be Nobletts. Lavisy and Moses Abraham Noblett's daughter> Alza, married Michael C. Hoyle, bond 16 January 1851 McDowell Co., NC. Bondsman W. R. Gilliam. Charmaine

John Davis who married Elizabeth Mashburn lived in what is now McDowell County. He died shortly after marriage though (ca 1819) leaving only two sons Matthew (1817) and William M. Davis (1819). Elizabeth Mashburn married Abel Harris in the 1820's and moved to nearby Buncombe County, later moving to Fannin Co, GA. I'm related to Elizabeth (mother was a Stroud, my Aunt), but I have not identified the family of John Davis yet. p.s. The bondsman for their marriage was Thomas Welch, not Thomas Davis, though I've seen both names listed in transcripts. I don't recall whether I've looked at the original marriage bond or not. That would solve it.

The Web site will be update nightly with information from burials the previous day.
