    3. Thank heavens you got on the site. I found it grossly inadequate, but at least a starting point. I wish someone would spearhead a North Carolina (and South Carolina) site. The people on the Lists that I copied (on that original e-mail) have a ton of information on plantations that is really fascinating, not to mention historically beneficial. It might also be a good reference for researching slave information on these plantations. A number of the books that I have are indexed by Plantation name and slave names. I got this this morning from the Georgia State Archives - "The list is a good starting place, but this does not list all the plantations in Georgia. Remember that plantations were large farms, and property records would show up in the Superior Court of the county. Also, there are Slave Schedules in 1850 and 1860 which list the slave owner or overseer and enumerate the slaves (with no names). This will give you a better picture of slave ownership in Georgia during this time period." Pamela W.
