Well, I was not able to find much. A book on Hancock marriages lists a John B. Childers who married Penelope Lundy on December 23, 1824 (Marriages of Hancock County, GA, 1806 to 1850, Martha Houston, 1947). He shows up in the 1840 Census in the 99th Militia District of adjoining Washington County. Hope this helps a little.
