Well, this information should confuse matters even more. >From #186 (Georgia Obituaries 1740-1935) Holland, Henry, died 6-26-1853 in Tattnall County (now Candler County), born 3-1-1757 in Bertie County (NC) (source: S31759 RW Pension) >From # 98, volume I CANDLER COUNTY HENRY HOLLAND b. 3/1/1757 d. 6/26/1853 He enlisted in 1779 in Duplin County, North Carolina and served 6 months as a private in Captain King's Company, Colonel Kenan's North Carolina Regiment and fought in the Battle of Stono. (2) Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pensions, p. 160. Hugh, I had cut and pasted all the Ancestry. com stuff until I came across one from you - so I deleted all those entries. ID: I7487 Name: William Isaac Holland Sex: M Birth: BEF 1728 in Pennsylvania Note: : LDS web site, IGI record. Per email from Dalton Holland Baptista, 2/24/01: William1 Holland was born Abt. 1723 in England. He married Mary Harrison 4 May 1743 in Pennsylvania. At least one descendent of the Rutherford William Holland lists Isaac b 1745 as a son of William Isaac and Mary (Harrison) Holland. He also says that this Isaac had a twin named Oliver who died in 1810. Sounds like the twin sons of Isaac who die the same year (1781-1859), doesn't it? The old man William shows up in Anson Co, NC deed record INDEX in the middle 1700s ...page number, however, is incorrect and I can't find him. Andrew is also in Anson (1755). Anson County was once huge. It goes thru numerous divisions and new county names crop up (Anson, Mecklenburg, Tryon, Lincoln, Rutherford . . . and much later Gaston is created from Lincoln and Cleveland from Rutherford. It looks like we have at least three HOLLANDs in Anson County NC in the 1750 time frame: Andrew, William, and Samuel. SOURCE: Holcomb, Brent H., Anson County North Carolina Deed Abstracts, 1749-1766 & Abstracts of Wills & Estates, 1749-1795. Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. 1980. INTRODUCTION Anson County was formed in 1748 or 1749 from Bladen County. At its formation it included a vast territory, having as its northern border the Virginia line until the formation of Rowan County in 1753, having no western boundary until the formation of Mecklenburg County, February 1, 1763, and having an indeterminate southern boundary until the survey of the South Carolina line, September 24, 1764. ........before surveys Anson county included all or parts of the South Carolina counties of Marlboro, Chesterfield, Lancaster, York, Chester, Cherokee, Union, Spartanburg, Greenville, Laurens, and Newberry." "Pp. 197-198: 30 Dec 1759, JOHN NIELLY of Anson, "Doctor of Phisic," to PHILLIP DILL of Anson, Silver Smith, for b 160 proc. money...396 A on NE side Pee Dee, about 9 miles above Great Cherraw, granted to JOHN HICKS 22 May 1741...JOHN NIELLY (SEAL), Wit: SAMUEL HOLLON, WILLIAM WILLIAMSON." The index refers to a WILLIAM HOLLAN on page 106, but I could not find any HOLLAN on that page nor any page close to it. Apparently the Hollan abstract was overlooked in the final typing. The index page number (106) indicates that this deed was prepared several years before the 1759 time frame which includes pages 197/198. Andrew HOLAND's land grants dated 1755 do not appear in this book? Deed Abstracts of Tryon, Lincoln, & Rutherford Counties North Carolina 1769-1786, Abstracted by Brent Holcomb, C.R.S.
