    3. Reggie and Houston, This is a first, - both of you requesting the same lookup at the same time. I have checked everything that I have. Everything seems to stop dead with him, doesn't it. I do know that he roamed through Sampson, Bladen, Duplin and Robeson. There is also a weird thing with military records. The North Carolina Confederate Militia Officers Roster has a Samuel J. Taylor: 16th Regiment (which was south Craven County), 4th Brigade, 2d Lieutenant, promoted 1 Lt. 31 Aug 61, Croatan District, Taylor Col says promoted (there is also a Samuel Taylor in Craven County in 1769). The Heritage Book write-up has totally different information on his military record. Now this I can handle, - in the dark recesses of the attic are the dozen or so volumes of the North Carolina Regimental Records. I'll be able to verify one way or another which military record is correct. The Craven County Samuel may not be yours at all. I have an idea on where to find his parents, but I can't do it until next week so hang on - Dee P.S. He was certainly much-married wasn't he (I should talk!)?
