    3. Hi Bushy, I think if you say it out loud you will come up with RAWLS. There was a Duke Rawls in Chowan in 1763 and Marmaduke Rawles in Bladen in 1777. Marmaduke witnessed a deed on 20 Feb 1777. >From #36 paraphrased: Benjamin Rawls and John Rawls of George Town District, South Carolina sold four parcels of land in Bladen in 1798. >From # 135 paraphrased: Abram Ralls is listed as a single poll taxpayer in 1789 in Bladen County. I can't find Marmaduke in the Testator's Index, Bladen County Wills, Bladen County Cemeteries, South Carolina Will Index, Georgetown, South Carolina Wills or North Carolina Land Grants in South Carolina. He's also not in the Heritage Book, the 1800 Census or any other deed or grant books that I have. I was working with the theory that if Benjamin and John were his family he might have been heading for South Carolina, but he seems to have disappeared after the 1790 census of Bladen County. I have found him in the Bladen, NC 1790 census in the Wilmington Dist. I am wondering if his surname is a variation of Rollo/Roller/Roler. Thanks so much you're the best!
