Hi Anne, What you found in the archives was a lookup that I did for someone. I have no ties to either of these families but the proof of Mary's marriage (only one) lies in the dates. >From Book #150 JAMES FAISON III FAMILY 616 (in part) ". . . and James Faison IV (1753-1812) who married Mary Hollingsworth (1753-1822)....James Faison was a soldier of the American Revolution. He married Mary Hollingsworth, a daughter of Henry and Mary Murray Hollingsworth. They settled near Turkey on a plantation which was later called "Mount Pleasant". Entry submitted by Claude H. Moore HOLLINGSWORTH FAMILY 682 (paraphrased) Henry's (Mary Murray's husband) BROTHERS, Zebulon, Valentine and Timothy Hollingsworth "moved from Duplin County to St. George's Parish (Screven County), Georgia in 1770. In 1769, Valentine Hollingsworth sold his plantation in what is now Piney Grove Township, Sampson County, to James Wright. All three brothers married and had families. Clyde D. Hollingsworth of Sylvania, Georgia, published a book in 1952 entitled "The Hollingsworth Family of Screven County, Georgia." Henry and Mary's SON, Zebulon Hollingsworth, lived, married (Elizabeth Chesnutt), had children (Stephen, b. 1794, m. Elizabeth Colwell; Henry, b. 1798. m. Mary Carroll; Jacob m. Catherine Treadwell; Edith m. Joseph Carroll & MOVED TO THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA; Jane m. Richard Colwell; Mary m. Thomas Vann; Annie; Elizabeth m. John Kelly & MOVED TO FLORIDA), died and is buried on his plantation.. Entry submitted by Claude H. Moore I hope this helps you. Sorry. I thought you had the info in your files since they seemed so complete. Mary Hollingsworth, 1799(or 1791) - 1877 married Thomas Vann (1775 - 1844). Mary was the daugter of Zebulon Hollingsworth m. to Elizabeth Chesnutt and lived in Sampson county or Duplin county. Her father was born in Duplin. One record I have has a first husband of James Faison and 2nd of Vann. In your record, her sister, Mary, married J. Faison so I think she only had one marriage. I have since found that her older sister, Edith, married Joseph Carroll and lived in Thomasville, GA. I've got family there trying to see if they came with them to Thomasville. One relative told me she thinks Thomas died and Mary with children moved to Ga. Thank you for whatever you can do. Sounds like you've done some phenominal research and I appreciate you sharing. My question had to do with Mary Hollingsworth's marriage to Thomas Vann. She was Zebulon's daughter and Mary H. Faison's niece. My info had her first husband as J. Faison but the dates didn't jive. My family, Vann, descends from Thomas and Mary's son Edward King Vann. do you have any info on where TV came from or how I go about finding it. I see that a lot of Va records have burned. I live in Roswell, Ga now but me and my family come from Thomasville, Thomas County, GA , for almost two centuries, so Mary's sister married to Carroll and living in Thomasville makes sense. We've had a lot of trouble finding out anything about where Mary and Thomas lived. thanks so much. Look forward to hearing from you.
