I'm trying to obtain additional information on the parents of Margaret A. Brown. Margaret A. Brown was b. 1847 d. 2/4/1921 and married James B. Porter b. 1838 d. 9/8/1908. They lived in the Kelly, NC area. Her parents were Willie Brown and Margret Porter according to the death certificate. The only information I have found on her family in Bladen is in the census of 1860 Margaret A. Brown was age 13 and living in the household of Joseph Elwell b. Abt 1822 and Mary Caroline Henry b. Abt 1832 in the Kelly NC area. This probably indicates her parents died before 1860. Margaret A. is shown in the 1870 census (age 24) living in the John B. Porter household in 1870 with two children, Fanny (female) 2, and and J. W. (male) 3/12. Fannie is 11 in the 1880 census and there is no J. W. but there is an Albert age 10 which is about the age J.W. would have been in 1880. I would like to have any deed info on Browns in Bladen County that may offer clues such as the names Willie, Wilie, Willy or William Brown being a participant in a land transaction. Wayne Atkinson
