My grandmother Etta Doshea Stanley Edwards, was the daughter of Wiliam Daley Stanley and Sarah Smith . .Sarah was the daughter of Joshia Smith and Martha E. Norris. .Martha E. Norris was the daughter of William Norris and Priscilla Alford. Most of these people are buried in Brunswick county .NC. My Mother's family is from Garland with ancestors from Bladen and Sampson county. There are many local names that connect into our family tree but some of them stop short like William Frank (or Franklin) Simmons. We were told by a couple Aunt's that we had family buried at the Rich cemetery but we did not find any Simmons there. They were supposed to have had a brother who died young buried there named Alton Simmons. We have Norris, Merritt, Smith, Lewis and many other names that intersect our family.
