    3. Hi Paula, Well, I have been working on this one since about five this morning and I can only find the Will of James (1660-1729) and a possible mention of James Junior (1707-1790) in the Will of Epaphroditus Moore of Bertie in 1757 mentioning his son-in-law James Howard. I notice that from the Will of James (1660-1729) you have not listed his son Samuel. The men I am looking for were in Bertie, not Bladen, County and the reason I requested the look-up in those books was because they were general NC books that we do not have here. This is a new line of inquiry for me. I knew that my gggg grandfather came from Lincoln County, NC to Rutherford County, TN to Greene County, IL to Harrison County, IA over the course of his 85 years. It was only in seeking the names of his parents in the Lincoln County, NC Deed books by Dr. Pruitt that I came across a "deed" that spoke of the division of property between the children of William Howard (that included my ggg grandfather Henry Howard and his siblings). Of the entries that you sent me, I believe From # 11 Howard, James, 010 [Bertie County], c 1729 Orig only, SS/AR may be the will my James Howard From what you sent me, it seems there were a great number of Howards in NC during those years and inconveniently for their descendents they all repeatedly used the same first names for their children. All of William Howard's children appear to have been born in Lincoln County, NC, so he may have moved there from Bertie County as early as 1773. As I said before, this is the very beginning of inquiry into James Howard (1660-1729), his son John Howard (1718-1776) and his son William (1747-1816), so in answer to your question, I have not exhausted all of the sources here in TN, particularly at the TN State Library and Archives. I do appreciate your help in this and will gladly do look-ups in return at the TSLA if you have any Tennessee ancestors that you need help with. Paula
