    3. Hi Paula, I cannot respond to "any other information about their families" without knowing every thing that you already have. I need specific questions. I am going to list even names of your men when we know the dates eliminate them in case you discover sons and nephews down the line. As for the location of James and sons: From # 135 Bladen County Tax Lists of 1776 John Howard 2 Whites 3 Male Slaves 2 Female Slaves Total 7 Bladen County Tax Lists of 1779 John Howard 350 acres William Howard Bladen County Tax Lists of 1786 William Howard 1 white male from 21 to 60 3 white females Total 4 From # 10 Howard, James, Sampson County, 1784 Howard, James, Halifax County, 1783 Howard, James, Bertie County, 1774 Howard, James, Onslow County, 1771 Howard, James, Jr, Hertford County, 1779 Howard, James, Sr, Hertford County, 1779 Howard, John, Bute County, 1766 Howard, John, Rowan County, 1761 Howard, John, Granville County, 1785 Howard, John, Wilkes County, 1782 Howard, John, Granville County, 1771 Howard, John, Richmond County, 1790 Howard, John (Quaker), Craven County, 1779 Howard, William, Albemarle County, 1679 Howard, William, Tyrrell County, 1784 Howard, William, Warren County, 1784 Howard, William, Granville County, 1771 Howard, William, Jr., Carteret County, 1779 From # 11 Howard, James, 010 [Bertie County], c1729 Orig only, SS/AR Howard, John, 085 [Rowan County], c1781, WB-C/114, AR Howard, John, 028 [Craven County], 1780, Orig only, AR Howard, John, 044 [Granville County], 1779, WB1/212, CTY Howard, William none even close to the right dates I have read all of the entries in the remaining books (and there are over a hundred) and have tried to cross-reference the names were dates are appropriate with no luck. These are all single entries (showing only one of your three names) with no way to ascertain if this might be YOUR James or John or William. So let's try it backwards. Do you have or have you already checked all of the Bladen County Deed books? Bible, everything in Bladen? The books i am most interested in are: NORTH CAROLINA TAXPAYER, 1679 - 1790, VOLUME 2 (see companion book # 131) Compiled by Clarence E. Ratcliff NORTH CAROLINA WILLS: A TESTATOR INDEX, 1665-1900 Corrected and Revised Edition Thornton W. Mitchell COLONY OF NORTH CAROLINA, 1735-1764: ABSTRACTS OF LAND PATENTS, VOLUME I Margaret M. Hofmann COLONY OF NORTH CAROLINA, 1765 - 1775: ABSTRACTS OF LAND PATENTS, VOLUME 2Margaret M. Hofmann EARLY RECORDS OF NORTH CAROLINA, FROM THE SECRETARY OF STATE PAPERS, VOL. 1 Abstracted by Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, Jr., EARLY RECORDS OF NORTH CAROLINA, FROM THE SECRETARY OF STATE PAPERS, VOL. 2 Abstracted by Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, Jr I am looking for evidence that these men were in Bladen County between 1700 and 1790, possibly where in the county they were and/or any other information about their families that is available. I checked the Tennessee Library and Archives here and we do not have the above books. I know this is a lot to ask, but I would appreciate anything that you have time for Thank you, Paula Snyder Nashville, TN
