Hi Ruby, Neil Beard is not listed in # 10. The earliest Beards in that book are Lewis and William in Rowan County in 1761. He is listed in # 51 which is the 1763 Bladen County Tax List: BEARD, Niel (sic) & two sons 3-0-0-3 (three white polls) In March of this year I wrote Jeff Beard the following: >From an entry in the Bladen County Heritage Book: "Neill Beard (1782-1853) was the son of Daniel Beard, who was born about 1732 in Scotland and came to North Carolina about 1780 in company with his wife and brother, John." I had a problem with this date because there were Neill Beards all over Bladen long before that: for instance Neill Beard, planter, purchased 125 acres adjoining the lands of Stephen Hollingsworth in 1746. By the way there is a strong connection for decades with Stephen Hollingsworth. I have done a huge amount on Neill Beard but since I only keep hard copies of lookups you can get the information faster from Jeff or any of the other researchers I've listed for you - plus the Bladen List archives. He has sons, Daniel, John and James (James is my ancestor) who were on these two lists. Daniel was alone, but John and James were with Neil. That is all that I have except I do have a 1781 & 1784 land tax list where Daniel, John and James appear. I believe Neil Beard died in 1772, but he should be on a 1771 tax list if there is one.
