The original Will (there is only an original) is held in the archives in Raleigh. There are no other Greers in Cumberland. There is a Will for a Robert Greer in in Randolph County in 1784. There are no Joseph Greer Wills. There is a Thomas Greer Will in Guilford County in 1839. Thomas Greer arrived in NC from Ireland circa 1740 and died in Cumberland County, NC in 1783. He purchased land tracts in 1755 and 1769 in either Bladen or Cumberland County. He had three sons - Thomas, Robert, and Joseph. Thomas's son Thomas was supposedly a member of the Council of Safety during the revolutionary war.
