He is buried in the Shiloh Methodist Church cemetery in Bolton, Columbus Co, NC. A photo of his headstone is attached, though the dates are wrong. The headstone was erected by a relative who didn't know the exact dates. There is a stone for Jane also, but she is actually buried in Carvers Creek, though the exact location is no longer known (to the best of my knowledge.) I have thought his parents to be James & Charlotte CARROLL. White Lake Baptist Church was in an isolated rural area and there were barely 50 members. On the membership lists and in church minutes around 1850 were James and Charlotte Carroll and Kenion and Jane Carroll but no other Carrolls. I know someone who is local to the area who would be glad to place a Civil War marker with the correct name and dates for you. Let me know if you want me to proceed. She was shown as a witness to the nuncupative Will of William Thompson in Duplin County. The Will was written on June 9th, 1785 and filed June 11th. The other witnesses were John Thompson and Barsheba Thompson. Thompson is spelled Thomason, Thomson & Thompson. William Thompson names his sons, John (Carter) Thompson and Benjamin Thompson, and daughter Barsheba Thompson. Also named were grandsons Ezekial Carter and Lawrence Thomas. I have no idea why his wife, Elizabeth wasn't named as she was still living. That is the only female Winifred/Winifird shown in the Duplin Wills Book. A little background which may or may not help. This couples son-in-law John Brown Stephens/Stevens was from Bladen Co. and had ties in Robeson. John B married the daughter (Mary L. Roberts Cole) of Winifred in Natchez, Miss. Dist. 1813. I appreciate your time in doing look ups as I do them for Adams Co., Miss.
