    3. >From # 17 480 HESTER - SINGLETARY (last page) A Tribute and Honor to Our Dear Ones Grandpa and Grandma were special to me. Daddy would hitch up the mule and wagon, I knew we were going on a spree. Grandma would have the teacakes and Grandpa was sitting on the porch in the shade. We would spent the day picking up hazelnuts, walnuts, swinging on the ivy vine, playing the pump organ and then go upstairs and see what we could find. We would almost stay too late and Daddy would have to march us through the gate. Aunt Manie, the oldest of the crew, always knew just what to do. She would come and visit us for a while and we would try to treat her in style. Her four offspring have always been dear and we try to keep in touch from year to year. Aunt Linnie would come to see us from town and bring us a surprise, you should have seen our eyes. Her off-spring I always admired in her uniform of white and wished I could be like her if all went right. Aunt Ellie I don't remember too well, but her four have a story to tell, they have stuck together in their own little town and have grown in leaps and bounds. Uncle Byron I can't describe, he loved his seven children and wife. He loved to grow tall okra and long squash. He was the spice of life. Aunt Mahalah, a very stately person indeed, was by your side in time of need. Her spread on the dining table as we know really did make us grow. She never went anywhere without a hat and saw to that. At times she was a mother to us all, if you can recall. Aunt Lydia, the mother of five, always made you feel alive. Her children are scattered across the states, but when they picked they got good mates. Grandma and Grandpa had seven of their own and then managed to raise a foster son, William. Last of all and most dear, if it wasn't for Mother Letitia, we three would not be here. Submitted by Louise McCulloch Quick, P.O.Box 143, Clarkton, NC 28433. I'm very excited that you have sent it to me, and I hate to ask for more, but I need another page on Article #480, you sent me page 163, but I also need page 164. Article #480 mentions my grandfather Byron Burney Hester and I would like to see what it says about the family on the next page. Thanks so much for your help, Joyce Hester Henderson..
