Hi John, Since your ancestor actually lived or owned land in presentday Robeson County a story on him would meet the criteria and would be welcomed. Please send me your name and mailing address, and I will put you on the mailing list. I am still doing research and currently am finishing up on two fairly large jobs. Good luck to you on your line. Hi Barb, Your map has already gone out. I can't find anything on Jesse either. There is no Will that I can find in NC, nor any military records on him that would indicate that he received a land grant anywhere other than NC. He is not listed in any census, tax record, deeds or bastardy bonds, marriages, passports, etc. that I can find except for the one item that I sent you on January 17th about the six Mears families all living side by side in the 1800 census. I know that John's Will is filed in Robeson County, but nothing on a Will for Jesse there. Hot and muggy here in South MS---ugh. Just got back from vacation and read all my Bladen list mail----are you sure you didn't trip over all those books you use to keep us all so happy? You mentioned a Bladen map to one of the list members. Is it an old one? If so, I'd love to get my hands on one! I have a request. You have given me info on my MEARES/MEARS line in the past. I am specifically interested in any tidbit whatsoever on Jesse MEARES/MEARS. I have been able to find info on his brothers Jonathan, Joel, Joab, and James. All five are listed in the 1800 Census living adjacent to one another. I can't seem to get a grip on Jesse. Many thanks! Barb
Sam, My Browns lived in area of Bladen that is now Robeson before the Revolution. Since that was before Robeson became a county would that qualify? Secondly, I had been in touch with you over a year ago about doing some research on my Edmund Brown family. You told me that you had information linking him to Thomas Brown, who might be his brother. I was not able to follow up on that lead at the time, but was curious to see if you are still in the genealogical research business. I have quite a bit of information on Edmund and his family, but still no links to a father or siblings. I would be happy to e-mail you my information if you are still interested.
