    3. As usual it is difficult to get on line to this paper on Sunday. http://classifieds.fayettevillenc.com/cv3/foto They may have your story in archives. This was two papers in 1960. Larry Cheek would be a good person to contact. He does wonderful writing re. old human interest. One of his best work (in my opinion) was about the daughter of Carbine Williams' daughter. 2. Delores While you are in the Fort Bragg area looking into your family homeplace look at something of interest to me if you have time. Angus Anders (I believe the name is correct) owned land on land that is now on the base. Years later some lawyer relative of his found out he had not been paid for the property and tried to sue or something. This was in about the first half of the 1960s. As was the style of that time Anders supporters held a sit in at the gates to Fort Bragg. I remember my daddy saying, I wonder how they think they are going to get money out of the government? I know a very distant relative of my husband who told me he got $312. as his part of the settlement. I made a call to Fort Bragg a few years ago and ascertained that the story is true. I remember when this happened but was gone from home and just back for a brief visit when I heard about it so I just have a memory of a liitle of it. Seems like settlement had something to do with a gas station corner or so. This was 30 years before I found out that Andress and Anders was the same name in Bladen county and surrounding area. DO ANY OF YOU LOCALS THAT REMEMBER WHEN THIS WAS GOING ON? BY THIS TIME I WAS LIVING NEAR BERKLEY, CA. AND MY CONCERNS WERE A LITTLE DIFFERENT---LIKE GETTING MY SKIRTS SHORT ENOUGH AND MY BEADS LONG ENOUGH NOT TO LOOK OUT OF PLACE. I'd just be interested in any of the story that might still be around. You were an angel and sent me a ton of stuff for some of my North Carolina families, could you help me again? My local library has the index to wills of Charleston, SC, but not the abstracts. Would your 121. ABSTRACTS OF WILLS OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA 1760-1784, have the wills for Richard Saltus and George Mathews? The index I looked at said Saltus, Richard, Vol 15 (1771-74) pg 472 and Mathews, George, vol 12 (1767-71) pg 579. Not sure that your reference will be using these numbers though. I really would like will abstracts for the early 1800's in SC too, will have to see if there is something available through interlibrary loan. Your help saves me so much time ordering things, I really appreciate it! I'm on the NC Duplin list, but not Bladen. Thanks again, If you need any lookups from Sonoma Co., CA, let me know. 3. Dolores, I have a feeling you will want to look at the 18th Corp. Headqtrs. If you are going south from Pope Air Force Base turn left at the light about 1/2 the football field. Can't remember the name of the roads. Any way, you will be on the road that comes off Pope Air Force Base main gate. You will not be able to turn right because it is a drop onto the football field, and you will be going onto main post. 18th Corp. Headqtrs will be on your right a block or two on the street you turn on to. It has a massive security system now. You may not be able to get any closer than the road. My husband retired while working in the G1 section there and you could just walk in. However, they didn't have all of the international problems they do now.
