Jacob Pope listed in Robeson County deed book S p. 122 Feliz Lee Benjamin Lee Joseph Lee in the deed transfereing Obedience's inheritance to her husband, the heirs of Jesse Lee sr are listed as Jacob Pope, Benjamin Lee, Joseph Lee, Stephen Lee, John Drinkwater, Jesse Lee, Willis Lee, Benjamin Lee (another one), Joshua Herring, Bridey Haters. snip > can anyone tell me where Drowning Creek is located. I have looked on my map, > but I fail to see it. snip Drowning Creek was renamed Fishing Creek. The Lees of Bladen were cut into Robeson County when it was created in 1787. I believe that Joshua Sr. is the son of Jesse Lee d. 1770 and the sister of Obedience Lee wife of Willam Starling in the area that became Robeson. I can't find my Lee folder to check the Robeson County Deed which lists the children of Jesse Lee. Deborah Byrd
Hi, I am looking for information on a Joshua Lee that sold 100 acres to Arthur Chesnut on the east side of Drowning Creek on October 19th 1780. It was witnessed by Joshua Lee Jr. and A Stephen Lee. It was proven Feb. Term by Stephen Lee. Can anyone tell me who the daddy of Joshua Lee Sr. was and how Joshua and Stephen were related. At least I assume they were related. Also, can anyone tell me where Drowning Creek is located. I have looked on my map, but I fail to see it. I will appreciate any information that anyone might have on these Lees. Jimmy Davis

Hi Joyce, If he died "Bet. 1793-1805" he never lived in Columbus County because it wasn't formed until 1808. Brunswick County was immediately to the south of Bladen. Columbus County was created by taking the southern portion of Bladen and the northern portion of Brunswick. >From 1777 to 1793 the Wilmington District/Brigade was made up of New Hanover County, Cumberland County, Duplin County, Brunswick County and Bladen County. >From 1793 to 1801 there was a realignment of the Military Districts and 4 Divisions were formed. Within these four Divisions were 9 Brigades. The 2nd Division, 3rd Brigade/Wilmington District then consisted of New Hanover, Onslow, Duplin, Brunswick and Bladen counties. Onslow had been added and Cumberland was now part of the 4th Brigade/Fayetteville District. In 1801, while there were numerous changes again in the structure of the Divisions, the 2nd Division, 3rd Brigade remained the same. >From # 115 paraphrased: From the Wilmington District I have James, William and Isaac Sims, all in the Militia. Have not been able to find marriage records for them, but their first child was born in 1813. I am descended from second wife Rebecca and their son Edward. I am also descended from the brother of Charity Godwin, Reddick Godwin. Believe both Charity and Reddick to be children of David Godwin, who was a Loyalist. I believe the Edward Wilson family were of the Primitive Baptist Faith and they probably belonged to the Porter Swamp Primitive Baptist Church in Bladen/Columbus County. The two notes at the beginning of your lookup were for everybody I know that some of the people (10,000 of 'em) think "why on earth is she sending this stuff to OUR List". It's because somewhere in the information is a mention of their county. As for the mention about Bess Tyner (author of those two books) that was not directed to anyone in particular. An abstract of wills posted on the Columbus County site lists the following wills of Troys that are available: Alexander, Alexander James, Daniel Shipman, Ed, Florence, Frances Eleanor, James, John S. ( died around 1880-83) Mary A., Matthew, Rachael, Robert Edward, and White. An Amos, Jacob and a Calvin ( unfamiliar names) are also listed. I am also interested in Alexander James' wife, Mariah Smith, daughter of Dr. John Smith and Elizabeth of Wilmington. The resources you list from # 57-64 may have this. Thanks. Troy Thanks, Troy
I only copy those Lists that are mentioned in a lookup. If you find anything in this lookup that helps you, I think the author, Bess (Hubbard) and Blake Tyner would enjoy knowing it. bbtyner@carolina.net >From # 62 KING October 6, 1825 D Near Sneedsborough, Anson Co., on the 28th, Dr. John King February 21, 1827 M In Raleigh on the 13th, Col.
