    1. Re: [NCBLADEN-L] interested?

    3. Dee- I am about ready to seek more info. I was there too briefly in July and could not complete my research. I was driving around near Fairmont, N.C. in Robeson County (originally Bladen, I think. ) I found a land grant to a Herring on both sides of Ashpole Swamp. I was led to believe that the town of Ashpole now is Fairmont. Do you have any info on Ashpole Swamp? I never made it to Bladen County, as I got lost in the library in Lumberton and ran out of time. My Herrings-John L, Anthony, and Samuel were in Isle of Wright, Va. and then Samuel moved on to North Carolina. I show him dying in Lenoir County, N.C. But his line( Michael and William Giles were in Robeson County. Do you have info on any of these Herrings? The original one-John Herring came into the Jamestown Colony in VA.from Wales.I do not know the reason for the Herrings to come to N.C.-but I think it was for land. Later they went to Mississippi. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. 3. Dee or anyone else who may have any information, I am looking for info on Matthew (Mathew) Hester, born March 25, 1810 and died November 30, 1859, specifically I am trying to prove who his parents were. All the Hester genealogies show that Stephen Hester was his father, but no one can provide me with sources for this, nor have I been able to find anything about his parents or his siblings. Any help would be appreciated. Beth Snyder

    3. Dee, You are an amazingly generous person! Would you please check on Baker, I believe Samuel and Robert should be there not sure about others. Mainly interested in pre 1850 if that narrows your search. 2. Dee, Still on the hunt for the elusive Daniel MCDUFFIE, Sr., b. ca 1750, d. 1828. Married to Mary Margaret KERR, b. ca 1750, d. 1834. Also, could you do a cursory look-see for any other MCDUFFIE/EE/Y that you come across? Just names for now as I certainly don't want to take advantage of your most generous nature.
