    3. Hi Margaret, I found very little. The Will of a Hiram A. Wright is on file in Caswell County (1881). I have the marriages of Hiram Wright X 3 in Cumberland County. I have the marriage of Edward R. Newell in Cumberland County. I don't have any Cumberland deed books and Cumberland Wills (in NC Wills) stops short of this time period. Without deeds, bibles, cemeteries or Wills for Cumberland I'm "dead in the water". The fathers would have died too late to have been in Bladen (Cumberland was formed from Bladen in 1754) although I did check the Bladen Heritage Book. There was a mention of "a" John Wright as a possible relative of Isaac Wright of Pitt County (ca1755-1808) because Isaac Wright witnessed the Will of John Wright in 1798. Could you do a lookup for me for the above names, mostly John Wright to see if he had any children and their names. I am trying to find the name of Hiram Wright's parents and believe it to be John Wright, but which John wright I am not sure since there are several. as for the Newell side of my family, all I have is my gggrandfather, Edward R Newell who lived in Cumberland County in 1861 when he joined up for the CW. Where he came from or whom his parents were I am not sure at all. Any little bit of help or direction would be appreciated. margaret sessions

He is first found on the Washington Co. Virginia Tax Lists in 1804 as Hartwell Bell. In 1805, he is listed as Hartwell Sawyers, alias Bell and the following year, in 1806, he is listed as just Hartwell Sawyers. His son, Leander McChesney Sawyers, born 1819, is my great-great grandfather. Hartwell Sawyers lived in Washington Co. VA and Sullivan Co. TN from at least 1804 until his death in the early 1850's. Hartwell also had sons John and William and daughters Nancy, Susan, and Catherine, all born between 1810-1829. 2. You might want to call Elliot Henry of Henry Farms in Kelly. He is one of the Porter family from the Porter reunion. For the most part that reunion is for the descendants of Elliots grandfather , I believe was P.S Porter. His mother was Rubey who married Roland Henry.Elliot is the 2nd oldest man alive in Kelly but he is in his 70's. Mac Porter the principal at Dublin Elementry School is 1st cousin to Elliot and I think it was his sister who masterminded the reunion. I know my daddy often said how nice but how ugly Miss Sally was. I hope you understand how cruel the young men of the era of the 20's could be all in the name of fun. Leroy Russ my daddy's 1st cousin is the oldest but being in his 90's he is sharp but has a lot of trouble talking(Parkinson). There is also a McNeil Kelly that is into genealogy that lives very close to where Miss Sally lived and is a neighbor of the above Elliots. Tell them Kay Russ said for you to call and that should show that your interest is legit as they both know I like to fiddle with genealogy. Kay

I understand that every July there is a big Porter family reunion at White Lake. I dont know if these are relatives, but maybe one day I'll have time to be there in July and ask a few questions. My father died in 1968. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Charles Porter Hometown: Fayetteville, NC Posted Decem! ber 25, 2001
