Not sure if my Patrick's are orginal or not. I'm told my grandfather Oliver Patrick changed his surname from Baldwin to Patrick, but I'm unable to prove it and I'm unsure if Oliver and Walter are related. They both were living in the William T. Patrick household during the census (Walter in 1900 and Oliver in 1910). Based on your reply, you are definitely someone I need to communicate more with, please email me at "[email protected]", I would appreciate hearing from you.

Oral history for my Porter line is that William Henry Porter married Nancy Cooper from Clinton, Sampson County, NC. This William and Nancy are said to be the parents of William Henry Porter listed on the 1850 Bladen County census that is living with Samuel McLelland. William Henry Porter married Samuel McLelland's daughter, Mary Ann. William Henry and Mary Ann Porter named one of their sons James Cooper Porter. JJohnson Kingwood TX
Porters and Fanna are very prominent in Sampson County, especially in the Hamburg Area near Salemburg. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, August 12, 2005 8:14 PM Subject: Re: [NCBLADEN-L] Porters > Hi Wayne > The Porter's I am researching were in Sampson Co. HELEN, I am Jerome TEW. I use to think Samuel Porter in Sampson married Nancy Butler...sorry but I have proven that Samuel Porter married Nancy Wooten. It is in a Sampson Deed. I do have some stuff on the Sampson Porters. JEROME TEW On Fri, Aug 12, 2005 at 8:14 PM, [email protected] wrote: > Hi Wayne > > The Porter's I am researching were in Sampson Co. Hi Wayne The Porter's I am researching were in Sampson Co. I have Samuel Porter b. 1810 md Nancy Butler , there son Haywood Porter b.1832, is listed as father on my husband's great-grandfather's (Adolphus Fann b. 1853 Sampson d. 1916 Cumberland) death cert. Have not find out who is father of Samuel, looking at a Matthew Porter that was in 1840 Sampson census living next to Samuel. The only thing I have on Bladen Co. Porter's is a will for Samuel Porter Oct. 1757 Bladen Co. He lists sons, James, John, Hugh, and Samuel (there has to be a connection with all these Samuel's). A will for John Porter 1773 Bladen Co. lists his brothers Hugh and Samuel (don't know what happen to James-died?). This John did not list any children or a wife, so maybe that narrows down your search to Hugh or Samuel as father of your James N. Porter. Hope this info helped some, hope to hear from you. Wayne Is the the Wayne that lived at White Lake and graduated in about 1957? I grew up in Kelly amongst a lot of those Porters. Give me a little more about who your James was married to or siblings or something. Sylvia Kay Russ Andress
Helen, I for one appreciate anyone taking the time to pass on sites where I might find HOWE family information. thank you for your time and willingness to help. In my opinion I don't think websites with bladen co. information could be seen as SPAM. some people may just be having an off day.. Smile and forget it. thanks again... I checked out the sites that you recommended and they could be very helpful to someone. Unfortunately, I didn't find any of my people, but then that's not unusual.
