Oh, Lord, Mike! "Let me throw in my 2 cents in and hopefully clarify a couple of things. According to my notes, Gladys V. Thompson is Gladys Vause, b 10/24/1916, d 12/15 1972, wife of William Dan Thompson, buried Ed Lewis cemetery in Bladen Couny, daughter of L.W. and Carrie McCullock Vause." If this is William Dan Thompson, b. 28 March 1896, I have him married to everybody BUT Gladys Vause (Lula Mae Thompson, Hattie E. Smith and Lannie Hobbs). PLEASE tell me that this isn't the same man! Hello Rita, Let me throw in my 2 cents in and hopefully clarify a couple of things. According to my notes, Gladys V. Thompson is Gladys Vause, b 10/24/1916, d 12/15 1972, wife of William Dan Thompson, buried Ed Lewis cemetery in Bladen Couny, daughter of L.W. and Carrie McCullock Vause. Buried adjacent to Grady Lee Thompson in the Cashwell Cemetery in Bladen Co. (first one mentioned by Dee) is Willie Louise Bazemore, born 8/6/1911 born in Screben (sic) Co., GA., d 2/13/1980 in Bladen Co., daughter of William A. Basemore and Dicey E. Robert, your information has possibilities. Daniel would be the right age. His wife is wrong, but she died when only 18 years old, so the wife I have from the 1850 census could very well be his second wife. If sending your tree is no problem, I would appreciate that..........and thank you very much. Bob

Hi Rob, I'm sorry this took so long - From # 17 674 THE FAMILY OF JOHN PERRY, SR. John Perry, Sr. (ca. 1755-1811), a veteran of the American Revolution, married Nancy McShaw Colville (ca. 1765-1810). They lived in the area around the present day White Plains Presbyterian Church where they reared a family of eleven children, only four of who are known to the writer: Jenkins Perry (ca. 1787-1850); John Perry, Jr. (ca. 1790-1870), who married Edith Watson (ca. 1803-1887); David Perry (1792-1867, who married Mary Jane McCullough (1796-1866); and Daniel Perry (1797-1873), who married Margaret J. Campbell Clark (1807-1899), the daughter of Flora Campbell. Daniel Perry, the youngest child, lived in the vicinity of White Plains where he farmed and was involved in the production of naval stores. Their twelve children were Andrew Hamilton Perry (1829-1896), who married first Adeline Naomi Meares (1830-1860), second Drusilla King Council (1838-1892), and third Susan Benson (1854-1928); Margaret Ann Perry (1830-1906), who married Bethel Mark Meares (1803-1884); Jenkins James Perry (1832-1862); Daniel Roland Perry (1833-1865); Flora Ann Perry (1835-1916), who married Joseph Taylor (1835-1900); Nancy Jane Perry (1838-unknown), who married Stephen B. Perry (1832-unknown); Jemima Ann Perry (1839-1922), who married Daniel James Clark (1832-1898); Luther Strange Perry (1841-1912), who married Mary Jane Davis (1843-1919); Wiley N. Perry (1842-1865); Lucy Ann Perry (1845-unknown), who married John James Clark; Martha Jane Perry (1847-1927), who married George Benson (1846-1948); and Lindsay Miles Perry (1852-1914), who married Margaret Sellers (1846-1929). Daniel Perry and his family were among the early members of Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church, and in 1850 were instrumental in the formation of White Plains Presbyterian Church. Many of his family are buries in these two graveyards or at the Perry Cemetery near Harold Priest's home. Four of Daniel Perry's six sons served in the Army of the Confederate States of America: Jenkin J. and Lieutenant Daniel Roland died at Fort Fisher; Wiley N. was taken Prisoner at Gettysburg, released at the end of the war and became ill and died near Richmond on his way home; Luther Strange Perry lived to returned [sic] to Bladen County and reared a family of six; Andrew Hamilton Perry, the oldest, hired a replacement and Lindsay Perry was only nine years old at the beginning of the war. Andrew Hamilton Perry, like his father Daniel, farmed and produced naval stores in the area around Rosindale. He and his first wife Adeline Naomi Meares, had three children: Gaston Donaldson Perry (1856-1934), who married Arra Catherine Meares (1863-1937); Clement Meares Perry (1857-1929); and Andrew Mark Perry (1859-1862). Andrew Hamilton and his second wife, Drusilla King Council (1838-1892), had Sarah Margaret Perry (1862-1878); Alton Jonathan Perry (1863-1938), who married Nina Van Orsdell (1866-1934); Drusilla Rolande Perry (1865-1942), who married Neill M. Barnes; Adeline Emma Perry (1871-unknown), who married Solomon Jones; Henley Thornwell Perry (1873-1891) and Roxie Plummer Perry (1876-1969), who married Albert Gillespie McDougald (1872-1952). Andrew and his third wife, Susan Benson, had no children. Submitted by Rose G. NcDougald, P.O. Box 386, Clarkton, NC 28433. Hi Rita, Be careful: there are two Grady Lee Thompson (s) in this family. One was born 28 April 1915 in Bladen County, NC and died 16 February 1976 in Bladen County, NC. He served in WW II and is buried in Cashwell Cemetery in Bladen County. His parents were Arthur Garfield Thompson and Katie Dix. Both were born and died in Bladen and both are buried in Cashwell Cemetery. I have all of the Thompson side of this family if you need grandparents and Grady's siblings. The second Grady Lee Thompson was born 13 August 1918 and died Jan 1976. His parents were Barney B. Thompson and Willie Lee Israel. Actually there was a third Grady Thompson but he only lived for 6 months (1890). In checking the cemetery books of Bladen I find that the first Grady Lee Thompson is not buried with a Gladys. There is a Gladys V. Thompson who is buried and shares a grave marker with her husband Dan Thompson. She was born October 24, 1916 but there is no death date shown. Neither family is listed in Family & Bible Records of Bladen County.
