Please forgive the errant re-sending of my earlier e-mail. I was in the process of deleting drafts and accidentally hit send. I have found out a great deal of info regarding the family members I wrote about and hope to learn more. In the event there is research going on, I found out the correct spelling of my gr-gr-gr grandmother is ferebe Jane Bryan Robeson Grimes/Graham and her last spouse was Moses W. Grimes/Thomas Graham. Thank you in advance for any effort expended in my cause. Maggie
I am trying to follow up family information for my great-great-great grandparents who are from Elizabethtown NC. My g-g-g-grandmother was Faribe Jane Bryant w/DOB: 1839 who died in Istachhatta FL in 1863 or 1865 and is buried in an Indian Mound there. Her husband was Thomas Graham, born also in Elizabethtown in 1829. They had a daughter, Galva Dora, born 1854 in FL. Thomas apparently remarried and was listed with second wife Pinkmey in FL in 1870 census where she was also listed under Wesley & Eliza Baker on the same page. I saw an e-mail about a Goody Grimes marrying a Ferebee Jane Bryan on January 10, 1850 and wondered if it could be her. We are also trying to establish Native American blood in our family and Faribe was supposed to be NA. I have more info following the family to the present. I hope there is something available. Our last documentation was a family bible eaten by a goat 4 generations ago... Thank you, Maggie williams
Charles KING was not enumerated on the Duplin census of 1790 but land records show he was in Duplin until 1794. Would like to correspond with anyone researching or having knowledge of this man and his family. Thanks.
My great-grandfather Walter Oates was in the Spanish-American War from Alabama. Was first a corporal in Co. K 2nd U.S. V. I. The Metropolitan Police. Then he was a Captain in Co. A 32nd U.S. Inf. in Manila. But he was from Headland, Alabama. Augustus JONES was enumerated in the census of 1790, Bladen Co., NC. At that time he was the only male in the household. Is he the same Augustus JONES who was in Duplin County 1800? Was he related to Musgrove JONES of Bladen? Any information appreciated.
Joan, Do you know Sam West ? He is doing research on the Singletary family I believe. I am trying to find clues to the wife of Eli SINGLETARY who is listed in censuses as Ann born in Wales. Using the census records she was possibly born between 1838 and 1841 and a guess at marriage date would be 1850-1854. In 1850 Eli is in the household of his father and the 1st child was born about 1855. The family emigrated to Texas in the late 1850's or early 1860's. So far I have found Texas death certificates for two of their children; on one Ann's maiden name is given as Elizabeth Ann Hammeer; on the second, Ann Williams. I am searching for other death certificates in Texas to break the tie! The marriage records for this time period of 1850-54 do not seem to exist for Bladen Co. Can anyone on List offer any other avenues of research for me to pursue? I don't know that they were married in Bladen Co. but this is where the Singletary family lived and I must start somewhere. Thanks for any brainstorms you can share. Joan Singletary [email protected]

Tim --- Does the name HASTY fit into your family. There was a Flora Harrell who married a John Wilkes Hasty, father was Jesse Hasty & his father a Jesse. Tim Donate your money to the Bladen Historical Society. Go to this website and make note of the books you think might have info on your ancestors. Then e-mail this NC Bladen list and ask Dee to do a lookup for you. Also Dee can tell you where to send the $100. Thanks, good luck and God bless. claudia http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncbladen/lookups.htm
Bladen / Robeson lists, I'll give anyone $100 or donate it to their favorite geneology project, if they can give me information (with a source) on the following : BEFORE 1850 , where was William Harrell or his wife Flora Ann Harrell. He , Flora and 3 children were listed in the 1850 Bladen County Census of North Carolina. I believe I know where he moved after 1850 (south Georgia) but I can't find any info on where he was before or what his wife's maiden name was. It's not clear if he was born in NC or SC. The Ga census of Berrien County , 1860 says one and the 1850 census of Bladen says the other. He would have been born about 1808. To add to the confusion, lot's of Harrells were named William. I'd love to find a marriage record as well. Flora (Flora Ann) would have been born about 1823. Their first child, Jesse, would have been born about 1846. He might have had a earlier marriage, given his age, but Jesse is the oldest child living with them. Post your info to the NCBladen list or the Harrell list. Thanks, Tim Harrell [email protected]
Rev. Joshua Johnson of Bladen County was born in 1822. He was the son of Joel Johnson Sr. and Rachel McGee Johnston. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncbladen/pictures/ancestors/johnson/jjohnson.htm Joel Johnston Sr., originally from Duplin County, was probably the son of William Johnston. Joel's probable siblings were Jesse, Jacob, William, and Joshua Johnston, all of Duplin County. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncbladen/reports/descendents/johnston.joel.htm If anyone has additional information on Jesse, Jacob, William, or Joshua Johnston in Duplin County, I would be interested.
