I will be in Lumberton this Saturday, March 31 through Monday or Tuesday researching my BROWN line which goes back to Thomas Brown, Sr. and Edmund Brown. They lived down near Marietta, NC from at least 1760 to 1780. I'm planning on going to the Bladen and Robeson libraries, the Bladenboro Museum, and both court houses. Please let me know if there is anywhere else in the area that I shouldn't miss. If you're interested, I now have my own genealogy site at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~opus/ I have only recently discovered the Thomas Brown, Sr. link so my info on him is a bit sketchy at best. Thomas Brown, Sen. with sons Edmund and Thomas, Jr. are listed in the 1768 Bladen Tax List. Any help appreciated. John **************** John K. May I ask you what the RR after Bladen Co means? Also, would you recommend ways I might be able to get more infor on Eliza and her family? Like her parents' names etc. That's what I am looking for. I believe . but not sure - that her father was named James Brown - I'd just like to document it. This line is funny because we are in this line somehow related to a John Adair and many researchers have deduced (without proper documentation) that this is John adair of Bladen county or even John H Adair of SC who later became Gov of KY. I don't think we connect to either of these John's based on wills etc that I have looked up. Sorry for the babbling. I am just not sure how to find out who Eliza's parents were and was hoping the marriage cert would help me. Maybe a death cert? Hmm - hadn't thought of that yet. My mind boggles at the references you have listed on the Bladen, NC page. Thank you for replying to me email so promptly. These last 10 years I have been stumbling along with all my ancestors and I have finally concentrated on my North Carolina kinfolk. I was born a ROBBINS - they are all from Edgecombe Co., NC but I have not spent a lot of time concentrating on my MUSSELWHITES until my cousin discovered that we have a Rev War MUSSELWHITE ancestor and since we are now in our "70's", why not join the other ladies at our local DAR society. I found one of your contributions on RootsWeb discussing the Thomas and Mary Musselwhite family. If you have any references that you can share with me, I would be grateful to know about Jesse Musselwhite who died in Robeson County and left his will dated January 3, 1821. I have no doubt that you are aware of all the confusion about Jesse's first wife, who was thought to be Susan Copeland in some records and the second wife who some have written that she was Sarah Campbell, widow of a James Campbell. Obviously, you have seen _authentic_ documentation. I hope you can help me - I am descended from a Mary Musselwhite, b. abt 1780 and thought to have married Abel Foxworth, Sr also born abt 1780. They had a son, Abel Foxworth, Jr. who married Susan Elizabeth Musselwhite, b. 1811 in Robeson, NC. I am unable to to confirm or document these two ladies' Musselwhite lines. In some records, I have information that tells Susan E. Musselwhite, b. 1811 was the daughter of Joshua B. Musselwhite, b. abt 1795 and Margaret Locklair, and granddaughter of Joshua Musselwhite, b. abt 1764, who was son of Jesse Musselwhite, b. abt 1743 and served in the Rev War - and died in 1821. Most of my information has come to me through the FOXWORTH families but I have found some credible census information on Ancestry and Rootsweb. I would be so grateful if you can help me. Helen, There is a website called "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness": www.raogk.com If you can find a volunteer contact on the list for that area, they will go and take the photo for you. There is no cost. They only ask that you in turn do a favor for someone sometime. I thought I might need to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Helen Carter. I am married with 3 married children and 4 living grandchildren. My husband is a minister and I raise Pygmy goats. My hobby has always been buried treasures and I have been researching the following sir names for over 30 years: Garner, Tucker, Ellison, Kerr, Cottle, Dobson, Tracy, Fletcher, Posey In more resent years I have begun to pick up other family names such as: Cromartie, Hendry, Hopkins, Snow, Doane, Bickford, Winn, Hood, Spratt, Sharp Most of my research lies in North Carolina, Martha's Vineyard, New Brunswick, Alabama, Mississippi For the past five years I have not done much research as my son-in-law was on dialysis and that takes much time and money. He now has a kidney and is doing well so back to hunting for buried treasure. If I can help anyone I would love to and I hope you all might help me. You have already aided me more than you know. Many of you have encouraged me to get back into the research and have helped me to see that through the internet our family is a big one and I am not out there alone researching. In 2001 my Aunt who was my research buddy died and I felt I was the only one out there searching for this family but I now know differently thanks to all of you. You have helped me to fill in wholes and have helped me to find the sources for documents that as a young researcher I felt were so unimportant. Thank you again for all your kind and tireless help. I still need help so don't think I am signing off. I just thought it might be nice to share with all of you something about me. Many of you might have already closed this book. Sorry I get long winded sometimes. I love people. Helen _______________________________________ Psalm 146:1-2 "Praise the Lord, O my soul.
