Hi All, A while back I purchased a Tintype of someone assumed to be a SHIPMAN. The only clue to his identity is the writing on the back - "N. SHIPMAN, BLADEN, NC" We don't have many Shipman photos in our family as my Gt. Grandmother was the most recent Shipman in our lineage. If anyone out there can ID this guy, I'd appreciate it. I've place the photo at the following URL: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/k4nau/family.html Thanks again, Butch Butler

Hey Fran. They are not listed in Southwestern Bladen Cemetery Book. I found Martha Culbreth West born Jan.17, 1801 and died March 11. 1882, Married Samuel West, b.ca.1803, d. June 29,1880 in the Northwestern Bladen Cemetery Book, in the Culbreth Cemetery. Also, there is a Fleet Culbreth, b.ca. 1800, d. after 1850. Married Annah West, b. ca. 1814, d. after 1850. Other descendents are listed. All of these are on large marker erected in 1984 by the Culbreth descendents. Hope this helps. Hi Dee, I really don't have any names. I guess they just hatched! Everyone I have was born either in GA or AL I can only go back to 1840 with Thomas Wynn or Winn and they did not tell where they were born then. He had two sons in 1840 and is not found in any census after that. One son might have been John Winn and the other Robert W. Winn. Robert W. Winn named one of his sons John and another one William Thomas and the last one Robert. I do know that the some of the family moved on to Texas. I have found Robert in Limestone, Texas when he was 22 years old. Nothing after that - just drops off the face of the earth. Thank you for wanting to help. I have Winn in my family history. I have a Robert Winn who came to Alabama and married a Martha Kerr. I have never been able to find where he was from or who is parents are. Maybe I will have to look in this county to see if I can find Robert winn. Helen _______________________________________ Psalm 146:1-2 "Praise the Lord, O my soul. I am looking for information about James Winn/Wynn/Wynne who moved to Caswell County NC from Lunenburg VA c1808. James Winn is listed on the 1810 Caswell County NC census. James Winn married Mary Ann Winn (kinsman) in Lunenburg County, VA in 1778. He was in Lunenburg in 1808 (deed) and moved to Caswell Co. shortly thereafter. Does anyone have a copy of _Southwestern_ Bladen cemetery book? Looking for any WEST buried there prior to 1900. That is if the books are arranged by interment dates. Thanks,
Carol, Thanks for the advice. I am going to the Bladenboro Museum Saturday afternoon and maybe again Sunday if necessary. I am planning on going to Fayetteville Sunday also, but the library won't be open that day. Not sure if I will have time to get by there, maybe next time. John, If you have the time, the Fayetteville Library has a fantastic genealogy room. You might want to check out what they may have on your line. I cannot give you directions since I don't live there but I have visited the library one time several years ago and it was well worth the visit. If I am not mistaken, the Bladenbore Museum is open on Saturday and Sunday only from 2-4. Good luck in your search and have a great visit. Do your Johnson's tie anywhere into an Ervin Brown who married 1st Parthanea Johnson and later Lucy Johnson. Ervin was born in either 1810/1813 or 1822 in NC and died in Maury Co, TN. Parthanea was born abt 1822 in TN. Both girls are believed to be daughters of William Johnson and Lucy born abt 1790 in NC. All help appreciated. Lynn, Johnson were in both counties, but your Musselwhite's were in Robeson Co NC. The Musselwhite Family Reunion will be held here at Westside Baptist Church on the first Sunday in May. I too am a Musselwhite descendant.
