As we all know, they couldn't spell back them. I am sure the person who wrote the "original" was referring to Kitty Hawk. There were numerous old spellings. Kitty Hawk is part of the upper portion of Outer Banks of NC. It was in the Albemarle Precinct and when counties were formed it was in Currituck Co, when Dare County was created it became part of that county. It has never been part of Bertie Co. If there is an area in Bertie by the same name, I am not aware of it.
