    1. [NCBERTIE] Bertie Connection?
    2. Jean & Tom Schroeder
    3. Looking at the census below made me wonder is anyone on the list has any "Guard" family connections? This is just a long shot, but worth a try. My great grandparents, John Etheridge Guard, Sr. and Martha E. Baum, both of Currituck Co., named two of their children with surnames found in Bertie Co., i.e., Minton Dixon Guard, Silas Davis Guard. If anyone sees a possible connection, I would appreciate hearing from you. The Davis name was continued by several of the children and eventually was my Mother's middle name. Unfortunately, she did not know why the name was used in her family.
