Hello Everyone, I am frustrated by Ancestry.com's census indexes. I believe that when I was at the DAR Library a couple of years ago they had book with the Gates Co Census' transcribed for 1800, 1810, 1820, etc. My Mills LANDING/LANDEN died in late 1800 or early 1801 (per orphan prorceedings). I believe his father was James Landing. I have the inventory of a James Landing who died probably shortly before May 15 1820 when Abram CROSS was ordered to administer his estate. I am frustrated because I cannot find a James Landing/Landen/Landon in even the 1810 census. I am trying to determine if the fellow who died before May 1820 is Mills Father or a brother. FYI, other sons I believe are Elisha (in Edgecombe), William in Gates probably, and John who sold his Gates Co land, late in 1790s. James Landing's daughter for whom I have information Pleasant married Josiah Boyce, .The Mary Landing shown in Gates Co records marrying Uriah Eure, Jr., was the widow of Mills Landing, Mary Harrell. Would any out there have access to the census transcription and tell me if a James Landing shows up in 1810 or even 1800 for Gates Co. Thank you very much in advance, Janet Hunter
