Wife MARY MAGDALENE HOLLAND- use of my manor plantation where I now live for her lifetime, with reversion at her death to my daughter SARAH THOMAS, daughter SARAH THOMAS- land that formerly belonged to JOHN RAWLS, also 50 acres to come out of a tract that I took on the HAW POCOSIN, this part to be laid off on the most convenient side to the MANOR PLANTATION. Son JOEL- all my land not given away that lies on the HAW POCOSIN, also negroes VILATE, DICK, SIMON, ABBEY, SILLS, BEN, DAVE, ESTHER, NOAH, gRANDDAUGHTER RACHEL HOLLAND- negro CELIA, also dishes, bed, etc., Daughter SARAH THOMAS- negroes PATIENCE, SAM, WINNEY, DYCE, Wife MARY- cattle, with reversion at her death to my two said children. Wife MARY- bed, basins, plates, chest, linen wheel, etc., all my pewter is to be diveded between my son JOEL and my daughter SARAH. Son JOEL- all my COOPERS TOOLS, executor: son JOEL, EZEKIEL thomas Wit: ALLEN PURVIS, ABNER EASON, JUN., JOEL COOK {Note: SARAH THOMAS apparantly married EZEKIEL THOMAS, Where was the land he gave to daughter that he got from JOHN RAWLS?, Also, since his son was named JOEL & a JOEL COOK was a witness, could the JOEL COOK be a brother or perhaps the father of MARY HOLLAND?} 1791 20th of DECEMBER Grant to JOSIAH RAWLS State of NORTH CAROLINA no. 252, consideration of ten pounds for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasury by JOSIAH RAWLS.. a tract of land containing TWENTY-EIGHT acres lying and being in the county of BERTIE, beginning JOHN JENKINS corner the edge of DOGWOOD POCCOSON then along this line.. to a pine JONAS RAWLS corner then along his line .. to a pine in JOSIAH RAWLS line then along his line ... to SAMUEL DUNNINGS line in the edge of DOGWOOD POCCOSON then along his line to first station.
