On JANUARY 8TH 1716 WILLIAM FAULK of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA sold 200 acres of land in CHOWAN county, NORTH CAROLINA at JOHN JERNAGAN'S corner on ye north side of CATTAWATSKY MEADOW joining the said JOHN RAWLS and THOMAS JERNAGAN A THOMAS JERNAGAN was also associated with LUKE RAWLS in BERTIE County, NORTH CAROLINA and LUKE RAWLS was a testator and witness to several records of that THOMAS JERNAGAN as was WILLIAM RAWLS. MARMADUKE rawls {also listed as DUKE RAWLS} was on a tax list in 1753 for CHOWAN county, and on a list of men commanded by Capt. KING in 1754 and a 1755 list in CHOWAN county, in the grantor-grantee index for JOHNSTON, DOBBS and LENOIR counties, NORTH CAROLINA, ANTHONY HERRING sells land to MARMADUKE RAWLS this was OLD DOBBS county. in 1758 DEMSEY RAWLS was a chain carrier in a deed to MARTIN GARDNER on the 12th of OCTOBER. JAMES RAWLS was a wit to a deed from HENRY HILL of BERTIE county to CHARLES JENKINS of the same on the 1st of MAY 1759. on 4th of MARCH 1761 ANSALOM RAWLS was a chain carrier to a deed for JOHN DUNNING DEMSEY RAWLS then appears in ORANGE county on a deed dated JUNE 28TH 1762 when he purchased 375 acres on both sides of WHITE OAK CREEK which is the waters of NEW HOPE and another 450 acres next to it on the 6th of AUGUST 1762 joining ELISHA CAIN. ON AUGUST 11, 1784 RAWLS {JAMES RAWLS} was adjacent to the land of FORREST on a deed to JOHN GIBSON of WASHINGTON county, VIRGINIA to JAMES GUTTRIE of ORANGE county, NORTH CAROLINA. MARMADUKE RAWLS was listed on the 1790 census of PASQUOTANK county, NORTH CAROLINA. on the 8th of MAY 1772, MARMADUKE RAWLS bought 50 acres of land on the north side of CAPE FEAR from EDWARD DUNFIELD Both were from CUMBERLAND county, NORTH CAROLINA. And on the 11th of may the same year MARMADUKE RAWLS bought another 100 acres from EDWARD DUNFIELD lying in BLADEN county, NORTH CAROLINA. on the 18th of MAY 1772 MARMADUKE RAWLS sold the 50 acres to DUGALD BLUE both planters of CUMBERLAND county. on the 20th of AUGUST 1787 WILLIAM ROLS was a witness to the deed from ANDREW HUFFMAN and wife SOPHIA of BOTETORT county, VIRGINIA to JOHN ELMORE of ORANGE county, NORTH CAROLINA. On the 18th of MAY 1789, ISAAC RAWLS received 100 acres from the state of NORTH CAROLINA on waters of BACK CREEK in ORANGE county, NORTH CAROLINA.
