I'm also descended from Johnsons, Whites, Millers, and Mizelles. Got any Dunlows? As for your next query: > My mother's family is from Bertie. There are > Johnson, Whites, Millers and Mizelle in the > ancestry. > > My gg grandmother Celia Miller married John > Johnson, he was born in Norway. Has anyone came > across any info on him? I have not been able to > locate them in the census yet, but still checking. Are you sure about this? I grew up hearing my dad speculate that our Bertie Co. Johnsons were Scandinavian, which is historically ridiculous. (And which my research disproves in our case.) Some Johnsons were English, some were Native American, some were African American. Unless you know for sure about a Scandinavian who somehow made his way to 19th century Bertie County, take that family story with a huge grain of salt. Paul Johnson PS-- And look under Johnston too every time! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.yahoo.com
