Near Old Pitch Landing in Hertford County, NC Recorded by Stanley Hoggard, David Hoggard and Neil Baker Archertown, on the Cedric Pierce Farm known as the old Hoggard place. The gravesite is adjoining to Cedric Pierce's hunting club. I will describe later on how to get to it. I doubt very few if any know about this graveyard. It's in a deeply wooded thick area. My guess is that it want be there in 30 years! "Elder Thomas Hoggard, born August 15, 1802-died June 7, 1881." "Jane Hoggard wife of J. J. Hoggard born December 1, 1823 died February 10, 1892." Part of another headstone read born October 30, 1829 died February 25, ??. I don't know who this is. Many unmarked graves in this graveyard. Rev. Thomas Hoggard was born in Bertie County, son of Jesse Hoggard and Elizabeth Myers. He was ordained at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Gates County. He later pastored Capeharts, Ross and several other Baptist Churches in Bertie for many-many years while living in Pitch Landing, Hertford County. I will give a follow up on him later.
