Dear Group, For those of you that may wonder why I am sending these various records I will explain. Maybe by now, new list members are working on something that can help me find my answer. The question is...How did Michael and Olive obtain the land in the deed below. Michael's father William BRYAN(T) died in 1744 Bertie. His widow Catherine___BRYAN said she didn't have the will. I have tried to find other land records that will help, but so far no find. That is why I am resorting to other types of records...and I sure hope they help one of you out there...maybe not now, but maybe in the future! If anyone has a tip or idea please share with me. Thank you, Cathy In 1757 Michael BRYAN and wife Olive sold land to Aaron ELLIS, this is found on > Deed H-408 Bertie Co NC BRYANT et uxor to ELLISS 1757 > (on the original handwritten document the name Brown handwritten > in to the left side column) instead of BRYANT). > > > > >To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting to know ye that I >Mical BRYANT and Olive his wife of Bertie County within his Magesty's >Province of North Carolina....sell to Aaron ELLIS >Aaron ELIS his heirs and assigns forever and messuage or tract of land >scituate lying in Bertie County of No Carolina containing 100 acres of land >joyning to Robert HODGES patent line and SW to a corner forked Spanish Oak >then east to Little Roquist. >26th day of April 1757, Mical BRYAN seal Olliff BRYAN. Signed sealed and >delivered in the Presence of James ABINGTON, Elias F. HODGES. Proved by >James ABINGTON >(Elias HODGE is a possible relative to Olive)...well so could James ABINGTON. Aaron ELLIS later married Michael's mother Catherine___BRYAN ELLIS. She left a will in 1779. >************
