Dear Group, Someone recently asked me about Snowfield location. Maybe the land description in the following deed will help with location...I am no expert on this location...just thought this might help. Cathy Aug. 11, 1740 Bertie County F140 William GRAY to William TURNER of Isle of Wight VA 420 ac lying in the woods betwixt Keshy and Morattock being part of a Tract of land called Snowfield, granted by patent bearing date March the 30th 1721: Beginning at the center of three white oaks, Needham BRYANT'S corner in the back line of the survey Running thence with the sad line No 69 West to a Red Oak Runaroy Path, a corner tree of the survey then with another line of the survey No 25 East 320 poles to the center of a pine red oak to white oak another corner of the survey then with another line of the survey So 69 East to the pocoson, thence along the Pocoson and Allegator Marsh to Needham BRYANT's Corner on the Marsh thence with the several marked lines of Needham BRYANTS parcel to the first station
Going from Oak City, NC to Lewiston, NC on Hwy 11 & 42--Cross over Roanoke River, go appx three miles to a road on right (Indian Woods Road) continue on hwy 11& 42 towards Lewiston appx 1/4 mile. Snowfield House and Plantation on the left hand side of road. The house is standing in the field, dilapidated and with bushes growing all around it.
