Counties for which this project will focus are Anson, Beaufort, Bertie, Currituck, Chowan, Duplin, Edgecombe, Granville, Hyde, Johnston, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans & Tyrrell which existed prior to 1750. Project participants must provide a pedigree chart showing an ancestor in one of these counties prior to 1750. Project Goals: The goals are to assemble in a public place a region/area grouped and sorted by Haplogroup and Haplotype as a representation of early North Carolina ancestral DNA and associated Surnames and Haplogroups for genetic genealogy purposes.
