On LDS Family Search there is a William Brogdon, b. 1834, in Marion, SC. I believe these 2 Williams are the same. I don't know what happened to William after the 1850 census. Could he be the one from NC? One William served in the Civil War 20th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry but I don't know if this was him. There are so many William Brogdons--it's so confusing. If you have anything on William of Marion, SC, I would appreciate you sharing with me. Thank you!
