My grgr grandfather was Reuben winslow b.1829 d. 1883 in Gates Co., NC. buried in private cemetery on tony Carter's place )near Catharine's Creek in Gates) that is now rented by Mrs. Eure. Reuben's daughter Geneva Winslow m. John Edgar Carter "Tony" in 1887. His other dau. Mary J. Winslow m. Elmore Edwards in 1898. His son, Charlie Scott Winlsow m. ella mae Briscoe...this is my direct line. Reuben m. Mary Jane Carter b. 1849 d. 1876...dau of Henry O? Carter and nancy Walker Harmon. Supposedly he owned White Oak Hill Farms. My gr. mother the dau. of Charlie Scott Winslow and Ella Mae Briscoe always said that there was Cherokee in the family.
