Did you mean they are alive today? We do have Census on-line for olden times in Bertie County http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/bertie.htm The Smallwood and Ruffin families did intermarry -- both white and black families. The original families lived in the Woodville area. On the Bertie page that I mentioned above we have some diaries belonging to Mr. Smallwood -- look under History. (But these are way back time!) We have a few obits which might be more current.
