I received an email from you and I replied. Well to begin, my mother was born Linda Fay Smallwood in Bertie NC in 1953. Her parents were Emma and Charles Smallwood. She was given up for adoption to a family living in Norfolk, Va. We recently went down to the Bertie County Courthouse when we found out that were mother was born Emma Ward in 1934. On her marriage certificate it listed her parents as being Essie Cherry and James E Ward. On Essie's and James' marriage license his parents were (Hardy Ward and Emma Lee) Essie's parents were (William Cherry and Nonie Cherry). I discovered George and Rebecca through census records as being Essie's grandparents. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
