Hi Virginia, This is Faye Wallace. I appreciate all the hard work you put into the Bertie Site over the years. I also appreciate all the hard work Claudia has been putting into the site. HTML is like greek to me-I know nothing about it. It takes special people like you, Claudia and all the other people who take interest and help to make this site number 1. --- On Tue, 7/21/09, Virginia Ruffin <v_ruffin@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Virginia Ruffin <v_ruffin@yahoo.com> Subject: [NCBERTIE] Our wonderful Bertie List! To: ncbertie@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 11:58 AM A big thank you to all of you faithful contributors and especially Claudia for this Bertie List and getting it going again. All of our life circumstances change, and some years we're more inclined to work on Bertie history and genealogy than others --- but everyone's help is always welcome and very much needed. I'm so glad that Claudia is paying attention to the broken links. It is so frustrating when you go to a page hoping for a possibility of something "really good" only to get the notice "Page not found". I confess that this was never my strong suit ! These broken links may be "errors in the coding" (any of you who have ever done HTML know how that might happen) or pages that MOVE !! It does seem like so many of our good pages connecting to NC Archives or Libraries keep right on growing, and as they grow, they reorganize and the result is that URL links get changed! So anytime you're on a page and find a link not working, do pass it along to this List or directly to Claudia. Giving the URL (just copy it out of your browser) for the page you are on when you discovered the link is critical. Below it give the specific link which isn't working. Rest assured that the basic material contributed by everyone is still there -- rarely is anything lost off a server -- so we just need to work to get the corrections made. We still have 277 Bertie Subscribers! Did you know the 1st message goes all the way back to 1980 -- Mike DeLoach posted it. He was our very first web master. Want a trip down memory lane -- you can Browse the List. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ncbertie/index.htm >From our MAIN page, look for the Search Box, and in small letters below it, there are links to Browse and Search Mailing list. Lots of people have contributed over the years -- some of which sadly are no longer with us except with their spirit -- and I know I appreciated so much working with all of you. So pass along the news to all your Bertie friends that we want to do some more building and adding to what has already been put on-line. If you are a NEW subscriber, then by all means, speak up and ask your questions. This is the friendliest list I've ever been on. Lots of help to anyone who asks. Meanwhile, even though I am no longer that active with Bertie, my heart is still with you all.
