    3. I am a subscriber to the Bertie web page and have been for several years. I have not posted much on the page. I would like to comment on the e-mails sent in the recent weeks in regard to various subjects. I read all of the e-mails because they hold such interesting facts. My ties to Bertie are around about as I was born in Northampton but moved to Roxobel when I was 5 years of age. My fondest memories are of attending Roxobel/Kelford school until I was 16. Thank God we still hold school reunions inviting all who ever attended R/K .My ancesters (the Sholar/Shoulars) resided in Bertie until Northampton was formed out of Bertie. My oldest ancester was William Sholar Sr. born in Perquimmans County and died after 1759 his son, William Jr was born in Bertie in 1708 , his son was Thomas Sholar Sr born 1727, his son Thomas Sholar Jr was born in 1768 and he was married to Nancy Miller in Jan. 4th 1790 in Bertie, their son George J Shoulars Sr.(name change) was born in Northampton County and he married Elizabeth Young (born in 1802 in Bertie)who was the daughter of John Young and Martha Averitt.Martha was the grandaughter of Henry Averitt Sr.who resided in Bertie. Elizabeth Young married George J. Shoulars Sr before 1828. I am als researching the Tilleries from Chown County that moved to Bertie along with the Copeland's who also were from Chowan. My Tillery grandmother was a Bell from Northampton County but moved to Bertie.I would like to thank my close friend Pete Austin for his research on the families of Bertie. Julius Shoulars
