I know this email was written back in May but I still thought I would respond. I have ordered multiple books from Laura Willis..including the one mentioned below....and I couldn't be more pleased! To those who are wanting to know if their surname of research is in the book previous to purchasing.....I would advise them to just purchase this one regardless if the name is listed or not! There is a wealth of information in these deeds that any Bertie researcher will find immensely useful. If you are a serious researcher you will recognize so many of the surnames ...possibly neighbors to yours or those your line has married into..and it gives you an idea of where they lived and who they lived near to...and likely inter-married with! Remember; each of us are born with one surname but only 3 of our 4 grandparents share that name..you need to find the others. And this book helps you do this!! Thank you Laura!!! Is it not enough that she has researched and transcribed Vol 5 (1730-1734) to make it available to all of us, so we don't have to travel to NC? The book is only $13, so buy it and if your desired surnames are not in it, then donate the book to your local genealogy society. It's a tax deduction. But to ask her to see if certain surnames are in the book to determine whether or not it's worth it for you to purchase the book, in my opinion is wrong. Just keep in mind that this is only my opinion, but she has done a great service with all the book she has made available to the public.
