Sorry, George, but genealogy is not just names, facts and dates. It includes all of the social and cultural history of the past generations. Boy, would it not be dull to just look at pedigree charts all the time????? I want to know what they did, how they lived, what they died of and all the hardships they encountered. The Bertie List is one of the oldest and most active lists in North Carolina. We have gone through very slow times and very active times. Whenever a topic like the present one -- "recipes" -- comes up, we do tend to get more emails. However, as has been stated earlier on the list, having general topics like this is very popular with most of the list. In fact, I think you are the only person that has spoken against this. Since Bertie County is so old, our subscribers range in their research interests from 1700's - present day. That is a long period, and naturally means that the interests of the subscribers is just about as wide. While you may consider this having nothing to do with genealogy, most of our subscribers are interested in knowing how our ancestors lived back in the old days of Bertie County. Rather than just having names and dates, these recipes, help us see them as real, living people, who lived in North Carolina, and cooked in ways that modern people may have completely lost. As far as Wills -- we'd love to have you submit some. Or visit the pages and see all those that have been submitted already.
