A distant cousin of mine submitted HUNDREDS of documents on my Bertie County HOBDAY/HOBDY family to the Family History Center. This has been a wonderful asset to me in my research. So be sure to do a search on surnames as well at www.familysearch.org . Also, you all might consider sending in copies of your own research to the LDS in Salt Lake City. That is a way to make SURE that your research is preserved and gets "out there" for others to view, so you might make a connection. All you need to do is make digital copies and send them on a CD or DVD to Salt Lake. Or you can make copies of your documents, letters, correspondence, family histories, etc. and mail them to Salt Lake. No need to send originals. The digitized records (censuses, vital records, etc.) can be found under the "Search Records" tab, then "Record Search Pilot."? The digitized family histories can be found under the "Search Records" tab, then "Historical Books".? The catalog to the library holdings that can be rented is under the "Search Records" tab, then "Library Catalog".
